Great info. I got a question. I don’t do Yoga or Pilates, but I do planks to strengthen my abs, back, and shoulders. Is that wrong?

    reply: no

  4. Adrian Says:

Many have forsaken and rejected to the truth. Therefore, they have embraced lies. It is either receive and accept truth or receive and accept lies and error. There is no middle ground.

    • Danielle Says:

I knew Yoga was a pagan ritual and we shouldn’t be involved in such things even if it’s disguised as exercise. Can you do the truth behing Zumba? So many christians are falling into that trap too.

    • Britney Says:

It is an eastern practice in which by arranging your furniture in a certain way it creates a spiritual energy. For example, many of the buildings in DC (designed by masons)resemble phallic/sexual organs. The bulidings are placed in certain positions because they believe that a third spiritual energy is produced (yin and yang=dark feminine side[representing evil] joins with light masculine side [representing good] to produce a third energy).

  7. Nina Says:

    • Lee (South Africa) Says:

I was involved in doing Yoga in the past but as soon as i came to realise what it meant I quit! We had a teaching in church about this and most of the people who did Yoga, Karate, Martial arts all complained that back ache was related to these forms of “excercise”. This is all connected to the Kundalini Spirit shown in many Yoga depictions. We have to be cautious about these things and be careful about what we allow in our lives.

    • Saved by Grace Says:

      Tiarra,

I am a fitness professional in the military and of course, a Christian (else, I wouldn’t be here :D ). To answer your question about Zumba and Turbo Jam – I myself personally don’t do Zumba. Reason being because listening to the type of music they dance to will not only get stuck in my head (since I’m hispanic and I used to listen to those songs back in the days) but also those songs (specially reggaeton!) are just as bad as the songs that Minister Craig lists in his Truth Behind Hip Hop series. I don’t know if you speak Spanish, but all they talk about is violence, sex and drugs. Not only that, there is a lot of hip moving and shaking that wouldn’t be appropiate for a woman of God.

As far as Turbo Jam, I’m doing a similar workout (TurboFire – both by Chalene Johnson). I’m admit, I would like it that much better if it didn’t have the music, but unfortunately I don’t have the option of removing it like I can do with the INSANITY workout. What I do is that I try to ignore the songs and just concetrate on the kickboxing part of the workout, and I switch workouts everyday so I don’t always have to listen to that hot mess of songs.

I’m also a Circuit Training instructor at the gym I work at. Although I would much rather put my Gospel music for the class, I’m forbidden to do it because nonbelievers may (and trust me, they will) complain, therefore I am force to have to use one of their secular CDs. Again, I just try to shut out the music and concentrate on teaching the class.

The bible tells us that our body is the temple of God. As such, I believe we must take care of it. Fitness is essential to keeping our God’s temple healthy. Up to this day, I haven’t read anywhere where God prohibits exercise, we just have to be careful and really research the activities we do and where they originate from, ie. Yoga, Pilates, etc…Sometimes the safest route to go (although maybe a bit more boring) is to stick to running, the elliptical, weight lifting and just plain regular stretching. If you have to meditate, meditate on the Word of God :)

“This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but thou shall meditate therein day and night; that thou mayest obeserve to do according to all that it’s written therein. For then thou shall make thy way prosperous and then thou shall have good success.” Joshua 1:8 KJV.

    • Bost Says:

Also what about Insanity or Brazil Butt lift I also did Turbo Jam.

    • Murf Says:

      Read 1 Timothy 4:8…

  11. Nichelle Says:

I didn’t read all the comments but I praise GOD for the wisdom being given. I want to point out a few things I noticed about yoga that might shed some light for anyone who is in denial. I noticed on a youtube video by a man who’s name I can’t remember, These strange floating figures in between his breakdown of Rihanna’s umbrella song. First thing I noticed that he kept playing the actual song over and over as he broke down the spiritual meanings. What he was saying was true but the Holy Spirit cautioned me to pray and most of all turn the sound off. Then the Holy Spirit reminded me of something G. Craig mentioned in Truth About Hip Hop 3, I believe it was. He said, if someone gives you an amulet to ward off evil spirits, it only works because the spirit in it is more evil. I realized that the symbol that kept floating through the mans video was a person in the lotus position. I kept thinking, why in the name of Jesus would he keep showing this. I googled lotus positions and found that several of these meditation positions of sitting “indian style” also involve resting your hands with the palms facing up and the thumb touched to the index fingure, with all other fingers out and spread. Hot dog a frog! Isn’t that the same as the three sixs that all these artist are flashing? Hmmmm? Then I looked a little further and found a lotus position picture with the shakras painted on it. Tell me why the shakra in the middle of the forehead is an eye? Open your third eye????? Didn’t we learn that in Hip Hop 1????
He who has ears to hear, harden not your heart! If we truly serve Christ Jesus, then we are truly following his teachings. Use wisdom. A bad tree can not give good fruit. Who would knowingly eat bad fruit. It’s our job to know the tree before we taste its fruit. If you want to know what kind of tree it is, check the root! The root of yoga is false god worship. If it was ok for us to do what everyone else was doing, we would never had to repent and turn away, or become new creatures, or stop eating baby food, or any other instruction given by the scriptures to help us be Christ like and matured Christians. If you didn’t know it was wrong before then grace and mercy were on your side. Now that the truth is being given, you will be held accountable if you choose to continue down that road, because you would now be engaged in practiced sin. This is why we are supposed to pray without ceasing, by every manner of entreaty, in the spirit. The Holy Spirit will caution you and give you revelation knowledge of what you are seeing in the spirit rather than the flesh so you can fight the good fight.
Keep up the good work troops! This is a battle for souls. Only truth and the “Word” can save any of us.

  12. Wise Angel Says:

I’m curious as to what your take is on Zumba. I haven’t found anything online that implies it has any demonic ties. If you find anything let me know. Thanks.

  13. Cathy B Says:

I KNEW it! God showed me this a few years back! This yoga stuff is steeped in Eastern idolatry ideology! I was trying to tell my Christian friend to watch out, and don’t participate in this, but she wouldn’t listen!

  14. Jerome Says:

When you look at the positions of yoga they are the exact posses of hindu gods and goddesses. You have to look at the origins of all things, a bad tree can not bring forth good fruit. A lot of times people do things because someone famous or a mega church leader does it, when one practices in the occult it opens them up to demons and they need deliverance after they repent so if a preacher does it then who is really ministering to the people? There are positions in yoga where people have to get on the ground and hiss like a SNAKE, that should let you know how demonic it is.

  15. Wince Says:

Since yoga is quite blatant in its religious background. What about martial arts? i mean martial arts were never initially used as a religious symbol but for actual war and combat. Over the years, people began to put spiritual meaning behind martial arts and then styles like shoalin kung fu were made directly after Buddhism. So is it wrong to practice martial arts?

    • Jerome Says:

Research what Kung Fu means, remember that a lot of symbols they use are dragons and yin yang signs, they have masters as well. Ever wonder why Bruce Lee’s family was being tormented by demon spirits, it was even in the move “Bruce Lee” and notice how his son Brandon died? Study it.

    • Ben Santiago Says:

Jehova is GOD. Martial arts in the strictest sense as a way to defend you family and other believers is a must. There will come a day when we will have to defend ourselves, Christians will be persecuted. We may freely offer ourselves up for martyrdom but we cannot make that decision for our families. As men it is our responsibility to risk our lives for our faith and our family.

  16. Rachel Says:

Thank You Lord for leading me to this page, thank you for supplying us with this information.. I’m glad i came across this page i was thinking about doing yoga but i never seem to have the time to start, well after reading this i will never start… I got some research to do, here i was thinking that yoga was just another exercise. Thank You for posting this

  17. Sean T Says:

Aw man, my fiance is going to be highly upset about this!!! But we want to serve the Lord more than anything!

  18. Tracy J. Lott Says:

Bobby, I know this is outdated and you may not even get this and nobody will probably even read this. But, people need to know that Pilates is also demonic. It is a watered-down version of yoga, but is just as deadly.

    • p.brooks Says:

are u serious.. i tried to do pilate cause i was told it works but those positions was too hard to maintain so i switched to doin something else

    • Melody Perry Says:

Thank you Sister Tracy! Know that those of us who are fairly new here and are seeking knowledge do go back through these older posts and this one was particularly helpful for me! : )

  19. r4i Says:

    Hi,
Yoga is beneficial for the health in ways that modern science is just beginning to understand. Even though it has beenapplied with therapeutic intention for thousand of years, Yoga Therapy is only just now emerging as a discipline initself.
More health care practitioners are starting to include yogic techniques in their approach to healing — andmore yoga teachers give a therapeutic intention to their teaching. People who have never tried yoga before are startingto consider including Yoga in their treatment plan.
As science begins to document the importance of understanding the interrelation of all existing things, it looks to Yogawith an intrigued eye, for Yoga speaks Unity in every word. As yoga techniques are researched and new data is gathered,it becomes easier for science and the medical establishment to understand and accept the benefits of Yoga Therapy.Yet there is still not one consensual definition of the discipline.
In order to arrive to an adequate definition and to come up with proper standards for Yoga Therapy, it is crucial at this early stage to properly address some delicateprofessional and ethical issues. At the same time it is important to educate the general public about Yoga Therapy’s benefits and careful use.
so this article will really be helpful to me..

    • Michael P. Says:

Yoga is demonic in origin. Do your research. If you are a christian that is something you don’t want to participate in. There are many other ways to exercise and relieve stress

      • Autumn Says:

I know that this is a super-late response, but I have to agree with Michael P. My sister always says this: If the world is embracing it, there’s a good chance that there’s something wrong with it because the world is against Christ. If you have been blessed enought to have a healthy body, run, do push-ups, and do crunches. But don’t subject yourself to Yoga!

      • nini Says:

what we have to remember is the scripture “to the pure all things are pure” and the other scripture “no weapon formed against me shall prosper” if we are true spirit filled believers then we should believe that anything we do and anything we touch is made holy. No demon can ever harm us or open or close doors that have been shut. there is a lot of demonic stuff out there but why should we let that dictate what we participate in. Of course if you are not a child of God it wouldn’t be good to do yoga.

        • Jacen Fett Says:

nini, I would have to disagree on your comment. Yoga, and all other demonic induced martial arts, causes a bad physical problem. These martial arts cause severe stomach problems and pain. They do not benefit you body whatsoever! If you’re a Christian you wouldn’t need yoga to relieve stress. You can just take all you cares and worries to Jesus. Also, about your comment that we, as Christians, are protected from demons, and so we can do anything we want is crazy. You wouldn’t drink poison just because Mark 16:18 says you will survive. That is just crazy. My one and only experience with yoga is when I signed up for a cardio kickboxing class at the local college. I had questions, I wanted to know if it involved meditating or yoga, I also was “searching for the perfect love of my life” and an attractive girl, who probably wasn’t a Christian, that I had met at the Buckle clothing store was also signed up for the class, and “couldn’t wait to have cardio kickboxing with me.” I thought maybe I could attend the classes and get with her, and also stay in shape. So I went to the class and it was going good, until the cool down stretch. We got yoga mats, and the instructor told us to sit down and do some strange stretches. She started playing some weird Eastern Mysticism Music, on the stereo, and told us to start stretching. After that she told us to sit Indian style with our arms resting on the sides of our legs, and slowly breathe in and out. I felt a weird spirit come over me, and the Holy Spirit started to convict me. I stopped meditating, and I did what any warm blooded American Pentacostal would do; I started speaking in tongues quietly, rebuking my involvement in yoga and this demon spirit that was trying to enter my mind. After the class was over, I immediately went home and dropped that class online. Remember how I mentioned my “quest for love”, I think God was trying to teach me a lesson through tihs episode in waiting on God and be equally yoked with unbelievers. But that is not the point of this discussion. The point is that yoga is totally wicked and evil, it opens your body and mind to demonic attacks and manefestations. I highly recommend not doing yoga. It is a lie from the Pit of Hell. This has been Jacen Fett from the true Potter’s House based in Prescott, AZ and around the globe.

REPLY: Thank you for that witness.

    • J. Wesson Says:

I took one yoga class with a friend when I was 18 and it was my first year in college (1996). I was very excited at first because it was new and everyone was doing it. BUT when the class started, the instructor asked us to sit Indian style on the floor, put our hands in a prayer move, close our eyes and breath deep. THEN the instructor started saying some words in another language, So I opened my eyes right way and asked my friend “What is she saying”. My friend said I don’t know, we do this at the beginning of each class to clear our mind, mediate and relax. It freaked me out. So I stopped. But I looked around the room and everyone else was still “mediating”. Then when she finished, they went into the possess (which are hard, but I tried). I asked my friend after the class “why do you do it if you don’t know what the instructor is saying?” My friend didn’t have a answer.

This was my first and last yoga class. So many people turn a deaf ear……I don’t know why.

  20. Jerome Says:

I am so glad somebody else is exposing yoga. I had an experience where I bought a DVD for an ab workout (so I thought). As I was watching this video the Holy Ghost kept telling me not to do it. I watched it for 15 minutes, wondering when it was ever going to get to the ab workout. It never did! A couple of days later I found out in bible study that a brother was into yoga. I immediately went home and research it. When I was done with the research I picked my jaw up off the ground, because I did not know much about yoga until this moment. Then the Holy Ghost told me to look on the cover of the DVD to find anything related to yoga. I looked for at least five minutes and could not find anything. I was determined to find something on this cover, because I knew from my research, and from what I saw on this DVD-that this was yoga. Just when I was ready to give up, at the very bottom in fine small print it read, “Infused yoga series”. The reason why I took the time to express this is because, if we learn to continue denying ourselves and be lead of the spirit, even when we are about to do something wrong, the spirit of God will teach us and warn us. Even if we are ignorant to it.

  21. 2thehilt Says:

    Michael,

    I agree with you completely.

Do you happen to have books you can recommend to me that talk about this kind of stuff?

    I’d REALLY appreciate it!

    Thanks!

    • Jerome Says:

There is a book that deals with deliverance by Frank Marzullo called “The Bride Of Satan” and it has testimonies of people having to go through deliverance who were involved in YOGA. The stretches are in the form of hindu gods and goddess, look at the statues and then the stretches.

  22. Sis. Vickie Williams Says:

Praise God for this info coming to the light. I too found myself interested in yoga some time ago,but our minister shinned some light on the subject. But even before then I kinda had my doubts. I know that the bible says for us to prove all things, hold fast to that which is good(II Thess. 5:21) I like exercising, and stumbled upon(Fit Tv) a namaste yoga session, and thought to myself, I’ve heard that this is a good way to tone up and gain flexibility, and that I could use some exercises like that, “all that good stretching”, cause I’m getting older now(and I don’t want to start taking “Boniva” like Sally Fields so convincingly encourages us to do in her commercial) and that I need to keep myself toned and flexible. So I thought I’d give it a try. But in my heart I didn’t feel that it was as innocent and good as they were portraying it to be. But nevertheless, I tried to participate in it. I didn’t make any chantings or utter anything(couldn’t understand what she was saying, just wanted the flexibility) but it took one pose(downward facing dog) for me to realize and say, “hold up”, do Christians suppose to be engaging in these type of positions, and why do I feel like a stripper or something, and that I wanna call my husband at work right now. The devil is a lie. (Walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Gal. 5:16) And besides this, why is this lady talking so soft and seductive, that’s the tones of deception. I smell a serpent in the garden. If I wanted those type of feelings in my head I could watch those filthy soap operas(those things are off the wall, and I feel sorry for anybody that caters to that mess). Exercise should make you sweat, but not that hot! Glory to God! I’m so glad that He’s yet mindful of us, and that the Spirit of Truth will not have us ignorant of the devil’s devices. For “no weapon that is formed against us shall prosper, “no it won’t work”, And now I consider this EX-Ministries passage to be double confirmation for me, and for me to be sure to spread this news to everyone possible. Thanks again EX-Ministries, keep up the good work!

  23. Robyn Says:

Even as a child I knew (without anyone telling me) that yoga and it’s meditation was wrong (they tried to get me to do at school but I refused). Why can’t such a leader exercise childlike faith and and shun evil . I believe that leaders have to set the example of doing right, even if they are not 100% convinced (although in this case it is pretty obvious), but TD Jakes refuses to deny himself even for the sake of people watching and following.

  24. Michael P. Says:

    Isela

tell those naysayers to read books

It’s all in the books. Ive learned a lot by reading books about spiritual warfare, Demons and Demonic power and Generational Curses. I would asume that saints who come from a denomnation that believes and knows these things are real have learned about these topics. But unfortunaly preachers are only talking about the Love of God and having faith and prosperity.

t’s not about whether you will not want to be a christian no more or what your motive is for doing it. What a foolish statement by T.D. Jakes. Practicing Yoga opens you up to Demonic spirits. They can’t posses you but they will opress you and certain areas of your life will be cursed until you renounce Yoga.

    • Isela Says:

      Michael,

      I agree with you completely.

Do you happen to have books you can recommend to me that talk about this kind of stuff?

      I’d REALLY appreciate it!

      Thanks!

    • naa Says:

please lets pray for the church, T.D Jakes and other well known ministers of the gospel. as much as they give us covering, they need our covering too. Jesus believed in this thats why he took peter , james and john to the garden of gethsemane. the devil knowst if he can get them, he can get a good number of people deceived.

  25. J Says:

Man i am so glad to be still sensitive to the voice of the lord he told me to get rid of my yoga mat. Man as soon as i repented and did so i really felt like he was pleased. This is so much bigger than exercise, music, money, girls etc. It’s about good and evil, God and the deceiver, Christ or death. Please pray and keep reading your word and standing for truth.

  26. sy517 Says:

Oh my goodness! I’ve been talking to my friends about this for some time now but some of them don’t see anything wrong with it. I knew in my hear that something wasn’t right! To me… anything that the world runs after is shady anyway… come on Saints, let’s stir up our gift of disernment.

  27. Michael P. Says:

I knew about the truth behind Yoga for many years now. I thought most christians knew about it too. When i saw T.D. Jakes at the bottom i was hoping he wasn’t jumping on the Yoga bandwagon. But that was just wishful thinking. Now babies in Christ and dumb saints who have no discernment are gonna be like “well if the man of God says it’s ok I guess i can partake in Yoga as well”

    • Isela Says:

      Michael P.,

It is crazy how many people try to argue with me when I try to correct them or warn them about certain things and I would ALWAYS get that same responses “well if the man of God says it’s ok, it must be right!” or “Why would a man of God be wrong?” or “How are you going to tell me that this is all Satan’s plan if the annointed man of God is involved, it cant be! God wouldnt allow it!”, etc. etc. etc…

I do admit it gets frustrating to me but all I can do is pray… It’s pointless to argue back if they already have their mind made up.

Let us continue to pray that these people’s eyes be opened to TRUTH!!!

God Bless You Michael! Lets continue to pray for wisdom!

  28. Bensy Says:

Thou shalt not worship two masters. You either hate one or love the other. Eventhough yoga may seem a good thing in this pastor’s eyes, it is still a false god worship. Whether you feel compromised or not. When you’re using yoga, you’re telling Christ that his blood on the crost was not sufficient. Also you’re saying talking to God or having a relationship with him is not enough to serve him. It’s just like saying I’m going to use secular music to draw numbers of people in your church.

Proverbs 3:5 trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him. He will direct your path.

Let’s keep T.D. jakes or other televangelist, believers in prayer. Even in Christian bookstores now a days are not HOLY SANCTIFIED CHRISTAIN BOOKSTORES!

  29. Bensy Says:

If a preacher decides to use yoga to serve God, then yoga was his lord and savior in the first place. He/She needs to be born again. Yoga is demonic no matter how you put it. You can put holy, banana, apple, grapes or many more. It’s still the same…

  30. Naiym Says:

I’ve tried to warn Christians about this for years….Discernement is just feling that something is WRONG..i ordred some exercise tapes years ago, the informercial had fun dances …lots of ballet and an all around good time..When me and My sisters put it in…first exersice..Plies and squats,so far so good..then all of Sudden BAM!!!…get in NAMSTE cross legged positon, inhale get your mind centerd and become one with- STOP!!! DVD off..call to distributor and money back!!!! i even kept it in the garage until I dropped it off to the post office becasue I felt it was a false idol in my house..>These “sun salutaitons” and poses are WORSHIP!!!! and guess what there are CHRSITAN YOGA CLASSES!! oh yes…Christian yoga..( sounds like a Holy Hip Hopper..Or HOLY HOE ministry)…Now i understand the scripture..if it were possible the very elect would be decieved, in the last days…HOwever it says IF it were possible, becasue the HOLY SPIRIT and a relationship with Christ will lead you and guide you..and I thank Him for conviction and discernement!!!

  31. reginald morris Says:

I’m in the military overseas and we had a yoga physical training session, and I can tell you that something is not right about Yoga! First they turn down the lights, play some slow music and you do these poses and stances (how this helps your physical fitness is beyond me). I don’t remember all the names of the poses but the one that stick out to me was the “praying God stance”. This pose basically has you with your hands together like you’re praying, to what I don’t know. It just goes to show that you can’t just go with the flow all the time, especially when we are called to be a “peculiar people”. Be prayful and please do your research.

  32. Miss Lady Says:

    Meka,

You may want to add to your list Madonna, Russell Simmons, or anyone else in Hollywood.

  33. Tyrell Says:

There’s a city in the U.S. totally devoted to yoga and its occultic rituals. I believe it’s in Iowa or Idaho were the all of the cities residents (police & fire personnel included) go to the mosques/temples to meditate for several hours throughout the day everyday. This was aired on the Travel Channel this year! Chiropractors and 12step programs like AA practice several principles, so be aware!

  34. Meka Says:

Seeing T. D. Jakes was enough for me to know that yoga is wrong. My school of thought is if I see Juanita, Paula, Oprah, or TD Jakes support it then it’s morally wrong.
