God has never needed BAAL’s platform to spread the Gospel. The Lord has never needed a sinner such as Jay Leno to help the Levites do the work of the Lord. The musicians are the ones whose job is to make the difference between the sacred and the profane in the church. They are supposed to play prophetically on their instruments. Why is the world and the church coming together in harmony with one another in this clip?! How can a “musician of God” minister effectively in an atmosphere that is conducive for Lil Wayne and Beyonce to perform in the following weeks to come? Where is the difference? What is the point? M-O-N-E-Y
After all, Israel was introduced to the world on Jay Leno as a “Grammy Award Winner” and not a “Gospel Artist”

This is a true word… But Houghton has always been a little influenced by the spirit of Jezebel. He had an open heaven, but He’s always mixed worldly songs with His gospel songs. Jezebel is a really tricky principality. God is exposing her and chopping her head off… and He is rebuilding the house of prayer with night & day worship. The music industry actually has no right to exist in its current state.

The thing is what we have to realise is that israel’s intentions may be pure and he may have done this out of a pure mind but he has NOT done this out of a wise mind at all!!
Think of the young people who listen to his music and watch his videos, they were safe under him releasing his own stuff and then yes if needs be promotion on (censored to a point) God channels, but to go on a secular show that BEFORE his appearance and AFTER shows nudity, sexual references and blatant sin you have those out there who will watch Jay Leno JUST because he’s on it and i bet you that 99.999999999% of them are NOT going to turn off the tv JUST because his performance is done. NO their going to keep watching!!! So they do and see things they shouldn’t be and we say well they should have turned it off… hello! They shouldn’t have been watching or tempted to watch in the first place but why did they cause Israel was on it! THINK PEOPLE!
How many times to we do stuff we wouldn’t JUST because of a gospel artist no matter how much we admire them! If i am a big name and in Christ i should look at what Paul said, follow ME as i FOLLOW CHRIST! Not follow me as i follow my musical ambitions no matter how pure my intentions may seem!

Keep up the good work and shining the light of God’s truth where there is so much gross darkness among the people (Isaiah 60:1-2)!
Rev. G. Craig Lewis, I do believe that you are a man of God and I have followed you since I heard you speak in Houston in 2002. Well, I loosely know Israel and I believe his heart is pure. I am not sure that him appearing on J. Leno was sinister. Jay maybe wrong in many ways, but this does not make Israel wrong. God can use J. Leno to get Israel’s music out. Well, you are using Mark Zuckerberg’s platform and it seems to me that he burned everything and everybody in his wake to invent and distribute Facebook. Does that make you evil for using Facebook. Martin Luther King marched for my and your freedom with many people who didn’t think like he did. There were rabbis and muslims, everybody. But, they all did the work of the Lord, even if they didn’t profess Jesus Christ. Matter of fact, his theory of Non-Violence came from Ghandi, who I don’t believe was Christian and he got it from Tolstoy and Russian Jew who doesn’t believe in Christ. Sometimes Christ can work in people who don’t profess him. You wouldn’t say that you have to give up your freedom from segregation just because Martin marched and fought for Civil Rights with people who were not Christian. Rev. I believe in your work and you do do a magnificient job, you just have to be careful. I believe Israel has a good heart and his music has blessed me and my family immeasurably. I don’t see anything wrong with him appearing on J. Leno. Afterall the Lord lays up the riches of the wicked for us. I plan to keep that money or whatever when it gets into my hands. We can use their platforms for good, can’t we?

I also like Israel, however I do not understand going on j leno for publicity or anything like that because being children of god you definitely have to set yourself apart and even if it was done innocently we cannot let our good be evil spoken of. We cannot comply we cannot mix. We must continue to be sanctified
but how do we reach people who do not know God, if we don’t go to where they are? we are not supposed to just reach/teach/minister/help just those that know the Lord ~ we have to reach other who don’t know. i don’t see where being on the leno who is bad. maybe…just maybe, someone was touched by Israel’s ministry and decided to seek Jesus? even if it was just one soul out of thousands that watch that show…that is one more soul headed towards salvation.

This is my first comment ever on this site. I love Ex ministries and the information I have attained with the videos and conferences I have attended.
I have decided to comment to say that what Israel did was, indeed, wrong. I am totally against this 100%. I too am tired of fake christian artist. But I cannot say that he is a devil worshipper. We all make not so wise decisions and at times, we make decisions without consulting God first. We then find ourselves in bad situations that we could have voided, but to call the man a devil worshipper is wrong. We do not know that. I commend the ppl at EX for being careful with their wording as they wrote this article. But we, the guest, must be careful about jugding. We do have the right to call right, right and wrong, wrong. But lets not judge. Only God can do that. Again, I reinterate, he was wrong and needs to be more prayerful before he makes ANY decision, but to call him a DEVIL WORSHIPER is unnecessary. Maybe it is that I did not read down far enough, but, who called Israel Houghton a devil worshipper?
I believe that the scriptures of the Bible are divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit of God and are infalliable; thus, I do agree that Matthew 7:1 records Jesus saying “Judge not, that ye may not be judged”.
But, let us please read and understand the Word in context.
This particular chapter was a rebuke in regards to the extreme legalism (overly religious; hailing the traditions and rituals of Judaism as the way to righteousness as opposed to seeking a personal relationship with Yaweh through Jesus Christ)
If we peruse just one more verse down, we’ll see that this is NOT an admonition to STOP JUDGING altogether, but that if one chooses to judge, then know that the same level of scrutiny that one uses to judge will subsequently be the same level used to decipher them, so you better humble yourself and be purged before the magnifying glass come back around:
“And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?… Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye”
My brother in Christ, if we can be purified by Christ and see through His eyes, then we’d be much more merciful and charitable towards one another, for we’d recognize that we are not all faultless ourselves. And if we could get the log out of our own eye, then when it’s time to blow the little saw dust out of our brother’s eye we will have remembered the “wherewithal” it took for “ a young man to cleanse hid way” (psalm 119:9), and we can therefore offer wise counsel instead of “condemnation”.
I firmly state that I do not understand Mr. Houghton’s motive behind the J-Leno plug, except that it was a careless attempt to obtain a broader audience…NOT so wise.
Brother, I am still left with a rhetorical question, meaty as food for thought: If we are banned from judging, then how do we apply the scripture further down in the same text as Matt 7:1??
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

Jesus purposefully admonishes his disciples to beware…. Are we getting the word judge mixed up with the term discern? Are they one in the same? I believe you’d be relieved to discover that they are interchangeable IN CONTEXT.
Honestly, 1 Corinthians 6: 2-4 about sums up my response:
“2Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
3Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
4If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.”
How then do we apply the whole “judge me not” syndrome???
Love you, sir, but we must read and understand the Bible in context.. Satan does, and that’s why he is winning in many areas of personal psyche of the Saints of God…he knows more scripture than we do in most cases, and overall, understands the context in which it is written; thus, attempting keep us from using God’s Word correctly so as not to DEFEAT him and his iniquitous plans.

Why can’t we just call them out, avoid them, pray for them and show each other that this is not the way to go? Why do we have to put the person down? Just reading some of the comments and it hurts that people are so mean. I understand how we as Christians step out of line and need to be rebuked or put back in place, but man… I wonder how you all treat your children when they fall out of line. I’m a baby in Christ… and the more I continue to grow, the more God reveals that somethings I’ve been doing/was doing have been wrong. Im just thankful God doesn’t spit me out or cast me down as SOME of us Christians do each other. I truly appreciate EX Ministries for the eye opening topics and discussions. The PURPOSE of Christian music “RENEE” is to PRAISE the {Lord God} almighty, Not man. You see “RENEE,” when someone truly gets saved, and that is our key word, “RENEE” TRULY…..{God} will put a NEW song in their heart. And that song is “PRAISES unto God.” It’s not something we work up by our OWN abilities, or “FAKE”, or just doing it for the sake of a RECORD deal…and if {God} gave you a gift to sing, as well as your hero “Israel Houghton” so you claim.
Why depend on the world to promote your music if you profess that {Jesus is Lord}…???
or say it’s a way of making a living, singing and playing secular and gospel music.

It does NOT testify, praise or sing about the Lord Jesus Christ. In fact, a great deal of it does not even mention the Lord {Jesus Christ}. Much of today’s Christian Music goes out it’s way to avoid the name of {Jesus Christ}….why?

I think the main reason why some people have reacted negatively toward this article is not because they are ignorant of their Bibles or that their love for God is counterfeit. It is because the heart and motive behind this article is one of slander and judgement, not of Biblical correction. Even though you say the following in the opening article:

The comments which you have allowed to be posted even after moderation and the subsequent replies and comments from your staff reveal that the motivation behind this article is not one of love at all. You have allowed Israel Houghton’s character to be torn down not only by your readers but also by your staff.
Even if Israel Houghton was wrong in appearing on Jay Leno, the slanderous and condemning nature of this article has ruined whatever credibility and position you had to correct Israel Houghton. My guess is that many people have posted comments saying the same thing. Because these comments did not support your negative agenda, they were probably rejected. I would not be surprised if this comment is also rejected.

I dropped Israel when I saw a YouTube clip of him in London at the studio where the Beatles used to record. He said he could “feel the presence” of past artists who had recorded there. I thought “What do you expect? You’re in their sanctuary.”

It is a shame, I have an evangelist friend that met Israel while he was on duty as a security guard and he expressed his enthusiasm for the some of his worship music and Israel just looked and said ok was cold. So, I am not shocked a the exposure of his duality and doublemindedness to here. He looks right at home. It is sad, but we true, we look up to too many people that are not living for God, gospel is as much the “music industry” as other secular music. We have to have a discerning eye who we support! After realizing that defending Israel Houghton might not be the best thing to do, especially when he is promoting Gods music on a secular stage, i’ve realized my mistake and do apologize. I really like his Gospel music and was really blessed when he had his concert here in South Africa. But this is unacceptable. Good thing i only bought CD’s up till then.
I would like to ask now, how does he get himself out of this situation? Is there hope for him? And how can we help?

Ryan, your not alone. me too! thought his chops were of the hook. The way he plays the acoustic. That is until, like yourself, we see the light! ( Israel Houghton) is not serving the same {God} he sings about. Fruits differ from the message he proclaims. It’s one thing to know about {God} and another to live in light of that knowledge.
None of us has a free-sin pass. Our ONLY hope in coming out of the mess we put ourselves in-is—> REPENT.
As we do this, we will begin to understand the righteousness of our {God} is not earned in any shape or form but by FAITH in Him. And in that, we will experience His GRACE!
Our way of help for him is PRAYER and leave it in {God’s} hands and move on! Pray that {God} would surround him with people who REALLY love {Christ Jesus} in SPIRIT and in TRUTH……B4 the pale horse rider, rides towards his direction!!! And when that happens, no amount of chops, singing or any good deeds will be able to withstand the horse.

Dude no one is judging. We as believers are suppose to do what the bible tells us. 1st and foremost “Judgement begins in the House of God” 1 peter 4:17. And if you read the scripture in matthew 5 says that in the same measure that you judge shall you be judged. In other words the standard you hold others to God holds you to.

This is not even about Isreal Houghton, I personally have been ministered and brought into the presence of God through some of his earlier musical works. This is about when someone becomes our “Fan” and we get stuck on the individual, because of the gift. No one is judging him, but you have to keep in mind, no one is above God or God’s word. The word of God has to be the dominating factor in our lives. We tell off on ourselves just by the comments being posted whether it is or not. We are defending our fans without even searching the scriptures. I find it interesting that you only go after high profile artists. It reminds me of the story of Joseph. The lower someone tried to put him, the higher God raised him. I totally disagree with what you are saying. Judging does not = no compassion. What if God did not judge us and allowed us to stay in our sin? Where would we be? There would be no repentance. Jesus is our only salvation. Sometimes the truth hurts and it is hard for us (Christians) to minister to others IF we are still in our (own personal) sin. We are not condeming others but speaking of their sin and praying that they repent. THAT IS COMPASSION!

So, as a christian, you go to work. You are saved sanctified and Holy Ghost filled and NO ONE at your job is saved or getting saved…are you then ineffective as a believer?
Yes we are supposed to love God and love people however we are to hate the sin within ourselves and other Christians that so easily beset us. We cannot condone or support or ignore the willing sin in people’s lives, we must hold each other accountable and get each other encouraged in the Word of God. When God opens the door for someone to share the gospel to unsaved individuals it should be celebrated, not ripped because of your ignorance! I would deeply advise you to go back in your bible and study the scriptures. Here at EX Times our readers are far from ignorant, we study the bible that we profess to live by and commune regularly with the Christ we proclaim and love. In addition to reaching the lost, in which many of us do by the way, we are also mandated to test (which requires judgement) the spirits and if something lines up with the word.
That mandate is located in Matthew 7:5-23… right after the “beloved” scripture that many baby christians and the unsaved like to use…Matthew 7:2-6 in which this scripture is only partially stated..DON’T JUDGE. Christ was saying don’t judge a thing if you are doing the same thing…first repent and sin no more THEN you can pull out the plank in your brothers eye.
Secondly Jesus didn’t hang out with tax collectors and prostitues…THEY HUNG OUT WITH HIM. Which required for them to set aside their old man in order to dine with The Man. To confirm what I say look at Matthew 22:10-14 when Christ is describing the kingdom of God and how all though the invitation to eat at the marriage dinner was given out to everyone, the man who showed up not dressed in his wedding garments was cast out into outter darkness.
We dont kill reputations of leaders…we test them. They kill themselves. We test they’re fruit like the father commands us in these last days and if something is done or said that doesn’t line up with God’s word it is to be pointed out because that IS love. Love for the flock of God and love for the person who is being addressed because we care enough to point out the the True author or spirit behind a thing.
God is not mocked and he wants people who will live for him and love him through obedience not through a one time confession derived from a move of emotion. I believe he was walking with Christ but somewhere along the way he started to veer away from the narrow gate. You have to check out the website and listen to some samples. I have had the prophetic warrior album and it prepares you for warfare prayer, and he and the other artist sing prophetically which is what we do not see the mainstream gospel artist doing on their albums. By not being mainstream can be a good clue in itself.lol

After Isreal live in south africa cd, I started noticing something wrong.
As I started getting closer to GOD, I began to know the chastisement of the LORD
Within the season of the album I was working on, I was rebuked a lot by the songs GOD gave me. That’s when I knew something was wrong! No correction, no rebukes, nothing that deals with sin in Isreal music, just encouragement. I knew that wasn’t GOD, so I stopped listening to him. GOD is a just GOD, he build up as well as rebuke. The number one reason why some people couldn’t see this sooner is because they’re heart is stuck on singing, GOD is bigger than that, through my experience with GOD, I was introduced to his creativity, so I’m learning more about GOD and how to please him, but people are going to learn to quit putting their heart, mind, and soul into a beautiful voice and start paying attention to the message that comes out, as well as if the music is balanced like the word of GOD

I kind of wonder now what was behind all of those “Deeper Conferences” that Isreal would have before recording each of his albums. He claimed they would get together and have a time of prayer, fasting, and worship in getting prepared for each album, but was all of that just a joke? Did all of that time praying, fasting, and worshipping lead him to where he is now, singing on the Tonight Show? I wish I could ask Israel that quetion myself because I would love to hear what he would have to say!

Thank you very much for sharing the information. I went and looked at those pics and saw the guy on stage (a background singer) wearing that DEMON-INSPIRED Obey t-shirt. I then checked out the Obey site and was even more disgusted by its Satanic nature! The pentagram forms before opening the following page after clicking a choice from the top of the page. I also recognized the Demonic Freemason hand signs Israel Houghton made in two of the pics and the very symbolic red shoes on his feet in the last pic. This is disgusting for real!

Like everything else, I believe as Believers in Christ Jesus; who are filled with the Holy Spirit who has promised to guide us into all truth.. as Believers who have been bought with a price, and who are no longer our own (but His); we must always been in prayer as to who we are to listen to, what we are watching on TV; who we are listening to in the pulpit. Many of us do not simply take the time and seek the Spirit of God for guidance in these areas. Just because an artist is titled “Gospel” doesn’t mean they are a Christian, and it doesn’t mean it is actually Gospel music. Most of the contemporary Gospel music today never even mentions the Gospel of Jesus Christ; so how can it be titled “Gospel”?? Because we are His, we must seek Him without ceasing regarding the things we do and if they please Him. Most “Gospel” artists seem to start out passionate; filled with the Spirit.. and their music would take us in.. But as the Word says, when finances increase… something happens. Should we still listen to their music? That is something we should all seek the Lord about because in all we do we must do to the glory of God.

After getting all the exposees on this site, i started letting go of Joel Osteen. Israels music spoke to me. His live in Africa Cd was truly inspirational. But then i asked myself, if i have the same spirit of God as he does, what is he still doing at the Osteen church. He must be a part of the same false message. When his concert came to Kenya a couple of months back, i didnt ever bother to look at the ads!!!!!! i was like, im not getting caught up in your mess…. saddest part was that it was endorsed by churches….. “For Colored Girls”, is the new movie I believe you are referring to, and no I haven’t seen it but a friend of mine did, she came back depressed and teary eyed. In exchange for 8-12 dollars depending on where you live, you get exposed to a psychologically damaging script, overwhelming emotions, violent scenes of domestic abuse, and suicidal ideations, wrapped up and specially delivered to you as “entertainment”. The viewer of this sludge, leaves the theater feeling deflated, a little scared about their future, and wondering, “is there hope left in the world?” Tyler Perry has hit a new low, and covered this mental/spiritual assault of his, with Hollywood hype, shiny new poster’s, slick trailers, and big names. I don’t support anything he does and I refuse to spend a dime viewing this mess in the theatre or at home on DVD. After this funeral service, wearing the disguise of “a movie”, I hope others will see the futility in supporting his garbage as well.

And to just install this comment…research who is behind the screenplays of these particular movies…homosexuals. So when you talk about the deflation within your spirit after letting your eyes see this type of “entertainment” it will leave you in detriment and spiritually depleted.
I so agree Anointed Vessel. You can even look at the posters advertising the “Colored Girls” movie to see that. The poster of Janet Jackson looks almost demonic to me because not only is she wearing red, but they even changed the color of her eyes to almost clear or a light blue, to make her look creepy and haunting. I could get an idea from this how her character would be and what the movie would be like; more of the same depressing, hopeless mess like that sick, twisted, demented Precious movie was. I think it really reflects how Tyler Perry’s mind works (and Oprah’s too) and in what state his spirit is in. I researched for colored girls when I saw the previews and it was originally a play written by a member of the Zulu nation. And there is ancestral devil -worship in the play itself. @ MY MY – I also could not bring myself to watch “precious” And I can’t watch tyler perry movies either. The last one I saw I was tricked into seeing and I was mad the whole way through. At one point I excused myself and went to the bathroom for about 30mins. He is not talented anyway. Disappointing but not surprising. Such is life these days.

I mean how do you love God, make wonderful worship music, and stoop so low as to be a puppet on the Jay Leno show. “Don’t sing your music, sing EWF and Michael Jackson”, says Leno, amazing!!! But I guess this was inevitable after Pastor Lewis read his thanks yous in one of his albums on the bonus features of TTBHH part 3 and he thanked usher.
I am sure he was paid to do it an again its a job for him not ministry so that would be understandable. Ministry is who you are not what you do. The man is trying to feed his family. This is an avenue for him to do it. More exposure brings more dollars.

I think that I may just have to start listening to instrumental gospel, because at least then people can’t compromise as easily with the words to their songs and trying to sing songs of the world. Just recently i went to a Israel concert at Christian Tabernacle Church in the detroit area. Israel was talking about his wife and how the first song that came to his mind when he saw her was.. Alicia Keys “if i aint got you” he had the congregation sing along with him. Not only that but he added to God’s word saying God gives us peace, power, and a sound mind and money!?! It was very disappointing, me and friends ended up leaving after that. We have to pray that souls will be saved and that eyes will be opened in Jesus Name. People of God we have to stay sober and vigilant.
I couldn’t even watch the video. I already knew it would not be good but judging from the comments of those who did see it, I’m just smh. I’m really beyond disappointed because I have a few of his CDs and one that I listened to a lot is “The Power of One”. I’ve had a really rough year and “Moving Forward” among several other songs off that CD had been such a blessing to me.
I see now that there is a problem with this CD. I didn’t give it much thought but I remember watching one of the TBHH dvds and saw G. Craige not just listen to the music, but look at who the artist is thanking in the credits before he even listened to it. I hadn’t done this because truthfully I just didn’t want to know. But on this CD, he thanked so many folks that EX-Ministries has busted out (Beyonce, Usher, etc) that I was almost nauseous. None of these people are on the CD so I couldn’t figure out for the life of me why he was thanking these people.
I then saw that he thanked Bono from U2. At first I thought well what for? Then it clicked. The track “The Power of One” is not really a gospel song if you listen to it. It’s really about what YOU can do to change the world. You joined with hundreds of millions of people believing in one – the power of one. On the surface it might seem kind of harmless. Except that it is reminiscent of the U2 track “One” musically and a little bit lyrically. I didn’t see any credits for sampling that I recall but when I paid real attention to the song, I couldn’t deny it. No wonder he was thanking Bono; he was completely inspired on this particular song by him. I just saw the Truth Behind Rock & Roll not too long ago, and if you saw it and know what was said about Bono, then you know I’m really nauseous now. He may be fronting at the U.N. and whatnot, but that is one sick puppy.
At this point I think I’m just going to revert back to how they do it at the Church of Christ church where I got saved. NO MUSIC! Based on Ephesians 5:19: speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. This is how they justified having no music in the church during services, weddings, etc. I went with it at the time because that’s how they did it and I accepted that, but I thought that was completely off base. Now I see that they might just have a point.
What a shame!! When I heard the introduction with no mention that he’s a gospel singer – Shame#1. Then singing the Earth, Wind and Fire song!!! Shame# 2 nad 3 and ….ExMinistries you are just the real deal when it comes to TRUTH and exposing the anti-Christ spirit that infect the Body of Christ. I just keep praying that God’s protection and wisdom stay with you.
What kind of small demon statue did Jay Leno put out on his desk. He was pumping the top it’s head with his finger and it showed a red beam light coming from in the lower part of the body. This happened at 1:05 after Israel’s introduction.Very Demonic. It was like he was cursing and distracting the audience from the lyrics ‘love God, love people. . .’. and his own rejection of hearing God’s name. I’m praying for Israel and his group to stop playing with God and stand for Truth and minister to the ungodly and wicked. Israel and his group’s very presence in going along with this ungodly job is a stumbling to the Body of Christ and those who would have come to the saving faith in Jesus Christ to be saved. God has a way of putting His true saints in Israel’s path to rebuke his behavior. He needs to heed the warnings.

And there was a strong debate and everything, I was thinking “Can’t anyone see this happening?” at the time I was talking about Donnie McClurkin about how he’s gay and that you have people playing his music, they we’re saying that God is bringing him out of it, I was like “its a lie of the devil”. I was trying to say after “that if God is bringing him out of it why is Donnie supporting marriage counseling and all that stuff?” Its crazy because he’s not in the state of mind! After that I got took down from playing.
The one thing I know is crazy is when they get secular artists to perform or produce/co-produce on an album when there are many real christians out there like me who is musically talented.

Wow, Ex Ministries, I am so glad that you guys posted this and really sad at the same time. It really broke my heart to see him up there, grinning, profiling, and SELLING OUT!!!!! I really can’t beleive it because I too thought that Israel was one of the really sincere ones (I’m beginning to think that NONE of them are sincere, so sad), but I was obviously wrong. And the Earth, Wiind, and Fire Song, I was just speechless. Did you all notice that when Ricky Minor introduced him as a grammy award winner singer, he left the gospel part out, I’m sure that wasn’t an error!!! And then Israel had the nerve to offer up strange fire singing two of his lesser known “gospel” songs and I wondered who did he think that he was ministering too? I doubt seriously that more that 5 people in that whole audience of heathens even knew who he was and better yet, even knew the songs of his that he sung, so why even sing the gospel songs and then the Earth, Wind and Fire song too? This is so sad, but I felt like Israel was going astray when he hooked up with that idiot CoCo Brother. At one point he was on his radio show almost every week and I thought that didn’t seem right to me being as that I knew that CoCo Brother was fake! I guess I will have to throw out my Israel CDs too, but I wonder, does that mean that his earlier CDs weren’t real in terms of praising God? Wow my my, whats up with these gospel artistes they are completely mixing the world with God at 1:11 of this video that sound clip sounds familiar to a 80′s song can’t remember the song…some weeks ago my system crashed i lost all my Gospel music from Israel Houghton and some others who were destining to be deleted guess i got some help. I only got back my Praise and worship from my brother but still had to delete a few..But wow I think we need to go back to our hymnal books for unedited songs to sing at church..
All I think about whenever I hear about these artist. And I’m (paraphrasing), is how Jesus was approached by satan…. satan said to Christ “I will give you the kingdoms of the world”. Of course our Lord didn’t take his offer… but alot of these artist today are faced with this very same test.. and they FAIL! It’s just amazing to me how many artist have sold out for the sake of money. What I’m wondering is this…. is it just a matter of time before they sell out, or was this the artists intentions from jump? Be not deceived God is not mocked whatsoever a man sows THAT shall he also reap.
Well, what do you expect? Especially, coming from someone from Joel Olsteens church. Whatever you yield your members to you become servant of. He’s been doing this since his 1st album. He even did a dvd where he talks about it. It’s sad when you become desensatized to being shocked about this kind of news anymore. Smh!
At first I wanted to give Israel the benefit of the doubt. I have seen him minister and he is a great worshiper. He was here a few years ago and in the middle of the music, his musicians stopped and began to lay hands on people in the audience and pray for them. It is sad to see such a compromise take place.
Another interesting thing is that when he came to Harrisburg, Pa last year Tye Tribbett’s brother was playing in his band…go figure.
I am not mad at him for being on the Jay Leno show though. If he were doing true ministry that would be a perfect place to do it. The problem is that I am sure they told him to tone the Jesus stuff down! Then, when I see him singing Earth Wind and Fire songs and Michael Jackson songs I know that he has compromised for the sake of fame and fortune

You know the funny thing is there is no true conversion of Christ in the video because the folks have been handed a form of godliness. I think think we as a church have exalted men of god and the wickedness of the devil to such a degree that it is hard for people to SEPARATE Man from God because the two have become so merged in new age theology. The truth is The Lord is holy & just. Man is is depraved and loves idols but by the regeneration of the holy spirit man can walk up right before God.
Gladly, Ricky Minor didn’t introduce him as a Grammy Award winning “gospel” artist. Although its disappointing what Israel has done, he wasn’t recognized on that particular platform to an unsuspecting audience as a “gospel artist”, but rather as an world-renown entertainer that wins Grammies, an award given BY the world.
I am very sad about this because i actually enjoyed his praise and worship. How can he use the gift that God has given him to honor the devil? How can a minister who led many into the presence of God through his music and talent now entertain the world (even without presenting the true message of Christ)? I believe 99.9% of the people in that audience will not be soo excited if he were to sing genuine praise and worship songs. What is going on in this world? Is there any gospel music artist out there who can still sing about the undiluted message of the Gospel and not be lured into the fame and fortune that this world has to offer? At what cost will he seek to be successful in the eyes of the world and gain their approval? When you truly stand for Christ the world will not love you; rather they will hate, persecute and reject you like they did to Christ.
This is a reality check for every christian. Are you seeking the world’s approval or God’s approval? What does God really think of you? Are you worried about your Pastor’s approval or God’s approval? Is the world’s approval, fame and fortune really worth your ministry and salvation?
As for me i pray that God will give me the grace to remain focused on Him alone. I pray that the cares of this world will not cause me to loose my salvation and be found wanting on that Day.

So true Lisa, this is a reality check. The Lord is showing us through these fake gospel singers and preachers just how desperate some people have become and how much of a lover of themselves they have become. Moments like this should serve as an example of what not to do. Personally, I am beginning to think that gospel singers and preachers shouldn’t have wealth, because in today’s times, when they get it, they lose themselves and forget all about God.
We must really keep our minds on the Lord and on what pleases him because the enemy is busy like never before. This is somewhat off topic, but I was watching ABC News last night, and they were interviewing pastors who claimed that they didn’t believe in God anymore or the Bible. One of the pastors said that he had been in the ministry over 20 years and that the “Bible just didn’t make sense anymore.” I was so mad watching this interview that I could have thrown something at the tv, but it just goes to show how people’s hearts will grow cold towards the Lord as his coming draws near. The pastors they interviewed were so embarrassed by how they felt that they wanted their identities hid and they haven’t even told their families or church about how they feel. These are truly some troubling times that were are living in right now, where people are denying their faith and are selling out and the saddest part about it is that these are people who are front and center and are “supposed” to be examples in leading others to Christ. That’s why we CAN NEVER put our trust in man or woman for our salvation, but in CHRIST alone!!!!!
i left this site and went over to ABC News. Very interesting those two…..I perceive they did not have the Holy Ghost. His Spirit constantly draws or pulls on me even when I am being lazy and slothful about things. I know if God takes the time to allow His Spirit to pull on me; I figure it’s like his word says, He is not a respector of persons. Those two men I will pray for. I can see God’s word in so much of their life (right now) Don’t be weary in well doing, Fight the Good fight of Faith,Draw nigh to me and I will draw nigh unto you etc.

“It breaks my heart to hear about stories like this”…When they merge Christianity with the world, they are definitely telling the world that God (Father) is not on the throne and He really doesn’t have the power to change lives…It helps you to understand why the Lord spoke of money being the root to all kinds of evil… what a shame!!
Most of the authentic gospel music is not found in stores anymore. One has to really search them out on the internet or few local churches/ prayer groups. One particular one I have come to like is the International House of Prayer. These dudes worship for an audience of one 24/7! God bless you all!

I agree about the gospel list. I been saying that for a long time now.
In-dus-try. The Gospel music industry machine will put artists wherever they can to promote a new record and find a way to justify it. Also, alot of Gospel artists share the view that it is ok to listen to secular music, and talk about being influenced by many of the old school secular artists. So although it dissapoints me to see him singing Earth Wind & Fire, it doesn’t surprise me in the least.

unbelievable. he is going Earth Wind and Fire and everything else! What a sell out. I’ll never forget speaking at a church a day before he and his band performed there. We had over 5000 cds spread out on the stage that people had given up because they heard the Truth Behind Hip Hop. When he and his band got there, they were going thru the cds on the stage and had to be asked to not take any of them. That’s when he and Usher shared a few of the same band members! What a shame. Now he finally got what he always wanted. The Tonight Show! Wow. But church folks won’t care. They’ll keep buying and supporting him because he can sing.

First let me say that I thank God for your obediance in establishing this incredible ministry. The information is phenominal. I’ve emailed the link to this site so that others may be informed. I first saw TTBHH several years ago at a Youth rally. Many young people gave their lives to the Lord after viewing the video. It was incredible. I speak about your ministry whenever the conversation turns to the Hip Hop culture. I look forward to purchasing additional resources to further your message. It must be told.
Having said that, I think that we should be very careful that we’re not being one dimensional in our respone to what’s becoming of the gospel music industry. While Brother Houghton’s display on the Tonight Show is quite disturbing, I don’t think that we should surmise that his original offerings were not anointed. The Bible declares that the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. (Romans 11:29)
Brother Houghton’s earlier music not only exalted our God, it changed the way many churches approach Praise and Worship. It transcended demoninations. Young and old across the world were singing his songs. Do we not know that this made Brother Houghton a target for the devil himself? You can’t impact the world for Jesus like that and not expect the enemy to try and take you out. We are not ignorant of the enemy’s devices.
And so now we supposedly can’t tell the difference between anointed music and noise? The devil is a liar. We test the spirits by the Spirit of God – and we know the difference. Jesus said that His sheep know His voice, and another they will not follow.
Let’s pray that this brother and others that may have strayed – back into the fold. And, as Rev Price eluded to, let’s start singing our own new songs to our God. He is truly worthy
REPLY: I think that one of the big issues in the body of Christ is that we only see WORSHIP through music and not as a lifestyle because in essence worship is not music.
I agree – it is an issue. Our worship should be a lifestyle. A lifestyle is what you DO, and music is an integral PART of that lifestyle. Music is a FORM of worship. Listening to, &/ or singing praises unto our God is a part of what we DO. We enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise (and that thanksgiving and praise MAY be offered muscially). The Bible is very clear on this matter.
So we understand why the music industry is under constant attack by he who was once the covering cherub. We are not confused. This is war. It’s why your ministry and others like it are vital to the body of Christ. We are empowered to make informed decisions through the knowledge that you share.
We should be careful to approach this in a way that brings a sure and true victory. Because the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.
I thank God for you and for your ministry, and will continue to pray for you and for those that WILL be delivered from the bondage of this world’s system through your ministry.

Its called exposure. I am sure most gospel artist would jump at a chance to get on a platform like that to further their career. Isreal is a gospel entertainer just like most of the so called gospel superstars. The problem I have is when you try and call it ministry those are two conflicting issues.
All I can say is “Wow”! Is anything sacred anymore? I am truly saddened by this display. I thought Israel was one of us… Our praise team sings a lot of his songs and they always minister to the body! Wow!
This is a bad thing when the world begin to want us to come and take part in their events, tv, parties, weddings, ect. There really need to be a standard raised for Holliness.

Did you guys notice that when they introduced him they didn’t say he was a gospel artist, they just said he was an award winning artist and he also stayed away from singing anything about God and sung all secular songs. Had he mentioned anything about God or sung gospel songs he probably wouldnt have been there. Another attempt to keep God out of everything.
I thought the exact same thing when I saw this. To them he is just another artist. If the world can see it why can’t the saints? SMH.

..and we wonder why some people have an anointing when they sing and others are bone dry, no presence of the Holy Spirit whatsoever in their songs. Today the church can out perform Hollywood, but the thing mankind needs, the church don’t have it anymore..
