this is not the first time I have seen this. I thought it was stupid the first time I saw it from other ppl the non famous who are my friends on fb, but most of theirs are done jokingly which really made me go are they for real. Making fun of the Holy Ghost, how stupid!!!!!! Why would you do that?? Didn’t undertand there reasoning behind it and don’t understand hers!!!!! At least my other fb friends spelled it like they said it, but I am sure all those letters are not words. Anyone ever notice that when these hard line advocates of tongues go to a foreign
country they always have an interpreter present to translate to the indigenous peoples
in their native language, and when they speak in ‘tongues’ the interpreter is silent
Tongues have been used over the years as a sword held over some believers heads
to intimidate, threaten and condemn and as a badge of superiority and as the basis of
ones salvation; If you don’t agree with their view of tongues you are accused of blaspheming the Spirit, quenching the Spirit and resisting God; a few points I would like to make:
Paul asked series of rhetorical questions in the negative; Are all apostles; prophets; teachers;
do miracles; healers; or speak in tongues (languages) obviously not 1Cor 12:29-30
He said to the Galatians “Tell me this one thing, how did you receive the Holy Spirit?
did you do so by keeping the law or was it by faith?” He called them foolish for not understanding this Gal 3:1-4
Writing to the Romans in chaps 3-4 Paul used Abraham (before the law) and David
(under the law) as examples being declared righteous by faith alone without works
Romans could rightly be called ‘The gospel according to Paul’ yet he makes no mention
of tongues being necessesary for salvation
And in Genesis 11 God diverisified the languages of mankind at Babel; since this is God’s
doing it stands to reason he knows and understands all the langauges He created -
it was pagans who used nonintelligable speech to communicate to their deities in altered
states of conscienceness

When the Pentecostal movement first started in America back in the early 1920′s, This thought process was huge among many Pentecostals. It was believed that if you didn’t pray in tongues, you were not saved because they took it to mean that you did not have the Holy Spirit and the Bible says that those without the Spirit of God do not belong to God. Over time it changed but there was still the idea that a believer needed to have a second baptism in order to have the gifts of the Spirit or they did not have the full gospel. It is very unfortunate because these kind of issues have been used for years in order to divide the church of God

I do believe in the baptism of the believer into the body of Christ and the baptism with the Holy Spirit. I just don’t believe the latter is essential to salvation.

@ Pastor Fred Price Jr……. actually in our ministry (I’m on a sabbatical) we are taught Mark 16:16-18 v.16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. v.17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; v.18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them, They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Pastor then asked a question ” by show of hands who is speaking in tongues? who is casting out devils? who is laying hands on the sick and they are recovering? “…. a few hands went up and the rest was told they don’t believe and they needed oil in their lamps and to ask God to help their unbelief (mark 9:24). I left a few months after that. I became confused and I know God is not the author of confusion. I have too many testimonies in my life of God’s grace, mercy, love, provision, dreams, unctions, etc. and to be told you are not going to make it in unles you speak in tongues threw me. I sat myself down, picked up the bible (more frequently), and tried to study and meditate on this……. who was warning me and unctioning me and helping me; delivering me and continually setting me free? who was it if I only said the sinners prayer? I am now checking my relationship with God….. is it real or was I religious! Pray for me saints of God.

Please know you’re a believer because of Romans 10:9-10, if tongues were necessary for salvation then salvation is obtained by works and the grace of God is null and void. Tongues serve their purpose but for mark 16 to be quoted in that manner is taking it out of context. The signs come after you do what it takes to become a believer (child of God, saved), the signs are not of necessity to make you a believer. (child of God, saved)

To answer your question direct, Yes – one in particular was an older family member;
a former pastor and a few penetecostal denominational churches in the city where I live;
after one accepted Christ and showed all signs of being Born Again the ‘arm twisting’
began, proof of salvation for them was “the EVIDENCE of speaking in tongues!”
(Having the Spirit/speaking in tongues were synonymous)
If they didn’t witness it ‘you weren’t saved’ in their eyes, they would put so much
pressure on new converts to speak in tongues some would fake it, give up,
or abandon Christ all together -
they had these people in a ‘spiritual limbo’ so to speak; people were testifying of receiving
the Spirit 3 months, 6 months, two years after conversion
The question I posed was “If you didn’t have the Spirit then, what would have happened
to your soul if you had died in the meantime?” I got no answer(s)
This upset me personally, because a former H.S. classmate of mine went thru this
and eventually quit attending church, she said “they made her feel unworthy, 2nd class!”
God allowed our paths to cross after I heard what happened, we studied the word
together (it took a little time) she’s back on track!

It sounds as if someone has caused you to doubt your salvation, this is
exactly what I tried to explain in my posts, this erroneous teaching that tongues
are essential to salvation has undermined peoples faith and caused a ‘crisis of faith’ according to your pastor, because you and many others didn’t raise your hands in
agreement you were told you didn’t have ‘oil’ (the Holy Spirit) and “weren’t going to
make it unless you spoke in tongues” that would disturb anybody!
I’m willing to bet most, if not all raised their hands from peer pressure,
as not to look weak to the pastor; was there proof these people actually spoke an
actual foreign language that was interpreted, cast out demons, healed the sick,
handled deadly things without harm?
Q. Who are tongues a sign for? Unbelievers! 1Cor 14:22
Q. If you had died (without speaking in tongues) where would your soul go?
Q. Did not Paul say in the negative …do all speak with tongues..? 1Cor 12:29-30
Q. Did not Paul chastise the Galatians for believing the Spirit could be earned by
works and not faith? Gal 3:1-3
Q. And why didn’t Paul state that speaking in tongues was necessary for salvation
after writing 16 chapters in Romans?

I believe they are distinguished but run parallel, tongues (foreign languages) should be
translated for understanding and edification to the hearers; Paul said to pray in the spirit
should be ‘with the understanding also’ involving the mind, he says the same concerning
singing with the spirit and singing with ‘understanding’ also involving the mind;
the parallel is with the understanding because without it, its useless and no one can say
‘amen’ to something they can’t understand intelligently and the unchurched will think you are crazy
born of the Spirit is regeneration, just as you can’t see the Spirit, you see the effects of
the renewed man (or nature)
Filled with the Spirit is to be controlled or under the influence, producing visible results
hence a person: filled with wine/anger/happiness/fear

When the waitress asks me what I would like to order, I tell her what I want via speaking in tounges!! OK. I finally went to her FB page so I could see for myself what she had done……..I read the comments people left for her. 99% of the comments were positive for her. A couple of people dared to ask what the “letters” meant, and one response floored me……..this one woman said no one should question the “Woman of God” (apparently referring to Juanita), and if the person who asked the question couldn’t “interpret tongues,” then they belong in Hell anyway and they need to back off before God strikes them dead.
So that means that all of us who don’t know what “dpdppwwmmmmmxxx” means, are truly hell-bound? Uh, whatever. Her page is a circus and those five minutes I spent on it could have been better spent somewhere else. Let us continue to pray.

I’ve been in many of Mother Estella Boyd’s revivals. She came to my church regularly for many years. I believe she saw this day coming! If she were alive today, she’d keel over and die again if she saw much of the shenanigans we see in this day and hour passing off as prophetic and anointed. I truly believe Mother Boyd was an anointed woman of God. Didn’t agree with everything I saw and heard, but there were and are very few like her today in the churches. We need more like her that at least would call many of these loose flying, out of control women into accountability. Gertrude Stacks was the wife of Mother Boyd’s pastor. The Winans launched their ministry from this within this ministry.

I dont know about you, but thats the God I serve. He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. I dont know much about this woman but I think it would be best to pray for her and the people of God following her. Making jokes about her will defenitetly not help but make us like the world. Remember that this is not just about the lady but also all those soul following her.

Ben Alexander has a book called Out From Darkness and he said that people let these spirits write books through them and use their vocal cords. Thank God for EX Ministries. But I really wish you would elaborate a little more on your post. we sit here and talk about Juanita Bynum as though she never walked with God. This makes the assumption to people that she has always walked after the flesh and people who have followed her over the years know better. Never have I seen the brokeness in other ministries that Juanita had displayed. Yes it is visible now that she is falling away, but has G. Craig tried to reach outt to his sister. Judas walked God but gave in to his own desires. And folk on here cracking jokes. Let’s talk like adults here..this is serious. If his ministry has tried to reach out and she rebelled then surely you’ve done enough. Surely don’t lead people to believe this woman was always a “witch” as your staff called her. Show them the falling away..like Judas (Chosen but failed)! TD jakes, Eddie Long, Paula White and all of these folk sUrely have falling.. And women calling themselves Pastors and Bishops.. That certainly needs to be addressed. These gospel artists whose motive from day one was about money..keep it coming. We need to see these things..

Thanks Sonay, there needs to be a balance to what is posted. The morning that I read the post on here, I had prayed for her on my way to work and when I saw this I was blown away because I know that she has not always followed after her flesh but has fallen prey to the fame and fortune and it is truly a disservice to the Body of Christ because Juanita had so much to offer. Even though she ultimately makes the decisions regarding her ministry, I am disappointed in her overseers who abused her in the beginning after No More Sheets and put her out there for profit way before her time. I will continue to intercede for her that she will repent and get it right with God first!

I love this post Sonay!!! So true. Back in 1998 when I saw Juanita Bynum on TBN before all the hype, she was sold out. She began to worship the Lord and a powerful anointing fell in my room where I was watching TV. That anointing stirred a hunger and passion in my heart for that level of intimacy with God that she had. I prayed for God to give me that hunger that I was discerning. She had a heart for God then. Several years later, 2001 I attended her conference in Pensacola, FL. God moved mightily, His glory was there. I wanted to go to her conference in 2003, but the Lord would not let my plans go forth to attend. Something has happened to her over the years and it is powerfully deceptive and taken over her (she has allowed it-PRIDE). She needs our prayers.

@ sonay…… you have voiced thoughts that I have once shared; However, when the individual really prays and go before God for truth, God will give you just that! I wanted to know the truth about a lot of things and people on t.v. and radio; over time God revealed stuff to me and this applies to all. In one of your sentences you said “people have followed her over the years….” respectfulIy I say this (because I once listened to her teachings) God’s Spirit will lead and guide us in all truths. God one day would not allow me to be in front of the t.v. when she was scheduled to be on. I didn’t understand then but I graciously do now. We don’t need EXM to post every sordid detail (concerning the initial falling) we only need to seek God sincerely and with a pure heart (all babes and new converts). Pray to God without ceasing and trust God to not allow you to be deceived. Pray for discernment and stay in your (me too) word! Brothers and Sisters, The Body of Christ has lost the call of God!!! This may be funny and hilarious for people, but I am embarrassed for the Body of Christ because we are being laughed at by the world. I am very angry!!! Look at the church, we look, act, speak just like world. No more coming out from among them and being separate, touching not the unclean thing, and then I will receive you. What happened??? God is about to pull the covers off of the whole bed. The pews are going to be pulled up and the nakedness of the church is about to be exposed because people really don’t want to serve the Lord. People was blessings and entertainment. No one is taking up their cross and following the Lord. My heart grieves knowing that people are dying everyday and going to Hell because Pastors are lying to the people preaching this foolishness that Jesus died so you can be rich with houses and cars, or Jesus died for your sins, so enjoy yourself in them. because of His grace. That’s not true at all. All that is happening is that the tares are being separated from the wheat. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t pray for her. God brings all things done in darkness to light and she has been exposed. Hopefully, God uses this as a way to open her eyes and she realizes just how far she has fallen. The body of Christ is alive today and I’d be very careful what you say about God’s children. There are people fighting strong with the arm/hand of God, doing great works in God’s name, delivering and healing and filling people with the Holy Spirit through obedience. I know that there are many brother and sisters who are on fire for God. I know that His true remnant of people are going into the Kingdom, but my heart grieves for so many people who may be babes in Christ and people(Bishops, Pastors, members, etc.) are putting stumbling blocks in their way. I am in prayer daily for those who are lost, because we both know of the reality that awaits them without Christ. This is just the beginning of what’s to come. Be encouraged my brother. In my reply to Minister Craig’s devotional this morning on “Denying Yourself” I also wrote about how it grieves that people are dying and going to hell everyday and yet the leaders who have a position of influence are preaching craziness! How can you and I be grieved about it but the ones who are pretending to be so close to God are not even more grieved? I just got the news that a guy from my hometown died this morning and he’s only in his 30s and my mind immediately wondered, was he saved? Again, there is NO WAY that any of us can disobey the laws of God and not expect any consequences, the wages of sin are still death and God is not going to alter His Word to fit my lifestyle or the lifestyle of these megapreachers.

I am not surprised at all. I never got caught up in her nonsense. I remember seeing her on a BET interview once, she said she was born to be a billionaire. This made my day! I had heard about it but I am not going to join her page to see it so I waited and hoped that you guys would get it and comment. I thought it would be a phonetic spelling of what people say. Instead it seemed to be random letters picked by chance. I think I’m going to become a racists against black people (sarcasm), cuz it seems like a lot of us seem to think that we have to show some sort of great “righteousness” that has been bestowed on us from on high. Most black church’s just run the tongues “gift” down with gusto. Thinking back, in these instances of “tongues” manifesting in service, I really don’t recall any further manifestations happening like in Paul, Peter, John, and etc. day. Ive yet to see divine healing except for my step-moms. No one, who speaks a different language, confirming the tongue(s) of the “tongued adept” by interpretation/translation, and getting saved by unction or the holy spirit. And so on, but even more compelling is the fact that when these manifestations happen, why does it seem as if these particular people “loose all reasoning”, pastor or preacher says “stop” and people start going harder. As if not to be in control. Look, even on the day of pentacost they kept and retained their reasoning. Even before that, when the high preist would enter into the holy of holies there would be a unknown tongue that would manifest for him to converse with G-d. If he lost his mind as people now do, I’m quite sure he wouldn’t have ever stepped out of the most holy place… alive. My point is these jokers are manifesting a spirit(s) alright, and it starts with confusion. I’m waiting for the day that G-d pours out his spirit on all flesh, having every knee bend and bow and tongues confess his most Holy and precious name.

She and many others like her are themselves in darkness, on that broad path that leads to the fires of hell. Sad to say what she did made me lol for a good 15 minutes now reality she has hundreds who like it because they too are ignorant of the truth as found in the word of God, we are in the last days, many have believed the lie that spoke to a need, longing or lust that is already in their own hearts and only repentance and redemption can deliver. May the grace of God keep all his children, may the word of Adonai flow purely from our own lives so that our true brothers and sisters can be set free, healed and delivered. Speaking in tongues is vital for us and should not be used as some type of gimmick to fool others into thinking we are or have what we do not. Most of this is just so pathetic. Question for the body? Does anyone leave one church just to start going to another an to encounter the same struggle,offenses, and treatment? I am a skillful and trained singer but I kinda hang back. I knew my new pastor from years ago and he had heard me minister in song and he asked if I would if I felt inclined to join praise team etc. He already had a leader and I had no intentions of taking over. At the time we had no keyboardist but now we do and he and the “leader” talk to me like I am just green and don’t know anything. I promised God I would not go into my flesh and whip out my “talent” and show off. But after rehearsal this past Sunday where the musician tried to belittle me but I nicely checked him and then the leader said “ooh everybody eill be doing a solo etc BUT I politely told her I had no desire to lead a song (1. tired of ministries pimpin me 2. I would like others on the team to gain the experience of leading. 3. if I lead I will probably be hated all the more and be called a show off so thats why I declined. Where I attend now the congregation has never heard me minister in song solo. I am tired of THIS. Any counsel?

Now I have seen hebrew tongue (words) written down by a woman of God that had no understanding of it but was given to her by the Holy Spirit (which she showed a rabbi and he confirmed it was hebrew). Paula White said that she was Tims’ mother, which made Jakes his spiritual grandfather…and the crowd of thousands went bananas!
