When Cross-Dressing becomes a problem at a Virginia high school

Suffolk schools to weigh ban on cross-gender clothingBy Hattie Brown Garrow, The Virginian-Pilot, SUFFOLK, Virginia

Last summer, when a School Board member shared concerns about teen boys wearing long wigs, dresses and makeup to class, the principals of all three city high schools insisted they had not seen any of that going on.

Superintendent Deran Whitney said at the time that he had heard no complaints and had personally observed only one boy – in jeans and a shirt – dressed in “what is traditionally viewed as female clothing.”

Nevertheless, Whitney is proposing modifications to the school dress code that addresses gender-inappropriate clothing.

The regulations, to be considered by the board Thursday night, ban clothing “that is not in keeping with a student’s gender and causes a disruption and/or distracts others from the educational process or poses a health or safety concern.”

No other South Hampton Roads school division includes that type of reference in its student dress code.

Vice Chairwoman Thelma Hinton, the board member who initiated the dress code discussion, said today that she’s pleased with the superintendent’s proposal.

“You can be whatever you want to be,” she said, “but as long as I’m on the board, I’m about safety.”

Hinton mentioned reports from last summer that a boy who wore feminine clothing had to use a faculty restroom because he felt threatened by his peers.

In June, when Hinton first brought up her concerns to fellow board members, she said teachers and parents had contacted her about male students wearing nail polish, lipstick, sundresses, strappy sandals and Spandex. Teachers considered it a distraction, Hinton said, but were afraid to speak about it publicly. She wouldn’t identify the school. Hinton said she hasn’t received any complaints so far this school year.

Whitney declined this week to comment before presenting the proposal to the board.

SMH!!! Home schooling is sounded better and better every day. Also just make the kids wear uniforms. In California from Pre K to about 8th grade they wear uniforms so just make them wear it in hs too !!!

Uniforms, that’s all I’m going to say. Not only should they not let kids cross dress at school but they need to lengthen the girls skirts and have them pull up their pants.

Another reason to home school or private Christian school your children if possible. Its not safe for our children to go to public schools, these schools continue to get worse and worse and allow more and more immorality.

I remember when a young man here, came into the church with a skin tight dress on, a wig, and some heels on…Lord, the church almost fell apart lol…it is not funny, but that just goes to show how the devil is trying to infiltrate the church in every angle, he tries to cause an disturbance and then these little children had no business seeing that mess….The pastor made him get out!

Sign of the times…I don’t know what’s worse….wearing underwear down to you knees or dressing like women but this should be a wake up call to us all (I know I’m singing to the choir).

Criticism of them cross dressing will bring charges of LEGALISM heard at so-called “Spirit-filled”congregations.

LOL…they prob. already do! It’s really disturbing to see how trendy this is nowadays…my sister is a lesbian and tries to buys my niece boy’s clothes but thankfuily my mother won’t allow it. (They live w/ my parents.) I also make it a point to buy her only feminine clothes, down to the socks and undershirts. It’s very important for children to understand their gender, that a boy is a boy and a girl is a girl! To let them dress in the opposite is gender only creates confusion and is abusive.

We normally in this day and age just follow the Video Leaders no matter what they do or say. This is brain washingly sad.

Amen, CLD! We have to stand…If those that are against the homosexual agenda are as diligent as those trying to push it, we would win!

Lord have mercy! SMH… Absolutely not! This should never be allowed in grade school. I agree, not only does it become a huge distraction to the other kids from their “educational process,” but this can only add to the propensity for violence against those students. Why risk that.

My grandson attends middle school in rural Va — which is about 2 hours from Suffolk County — and so far the school officials have been able to maintain a very strict dress code for these kids; right down to the tee shirts. Amen! Some schools are just not havin’ it!

The parents just have to stay vigilant in watching and praying that this perverted, demonic behavior doesn’t get passed as some normal expression of “free will.” The Devil is Liar!!

Pray. Watch. Pray. Watch. Pray. Watch.

This is a shame. This is the age group that the Gay agenda people have been trying to reach all along. I was just on a you tube page last night and saw a video of Tonex dropping it like it’s hot at a gay night club, in drag! Well, the Gay agenda seems to be working unfortunately. And people in the 30 age group and up don’t have to worry about being offended by this because they don’t care about us anyway. They aren’t trying to reach us.They want to reach the kids. But what they are missing is that WE are the ones who are teaching and will continue to teach our young people how wrong the gay agenda is, no matter how the entertainment industry and the government work to make the gay lifestyle seem OK.

God help us to continue to teach the kids about God instead of mans ways.

Beware I guess now the govt. will try and implement a “NO FEAR” Act or some type into the school systems now. This is a crying shame!!

We had a mother and son make a bet out in a town here in Washington State. It is called Port Orchard. I live 15 minutes away. That town is pretty conservative, the boy was sent home and that was that. I read about this in England where a boy got kicked out of a prestigious school over cross dressing. Yet I recall on this blog that a black couple in the country weren’t allowed to adopt or have foster children because they wouldn’t accept a gay lifestyle. Oh, the hypocrisy.

Deut 22:5 “A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this.”

Let’s see if this goes through!
