Maybe the Pastor is being sarcastic with his themes and his intent is really to show the ills of what was wrong with Whitne’s gospel, that’s why he said “according to Whitney” but his gimmick to get people is not Christian-like. That style of getting people’s attention is worldly-like and can send the wrong message. Sometimes “is not what you do, but how you do it”.I believe it’s what Ambailey is trying to say in her comment.
The series is called the gospel according to Whitney Houston, not the gospel of Whitney Houston. Really People?! What is the definition of gospel, the good news message. I would hope that all who are saved, would have a message of good news(gospel) given by God, even those who struggle in living like they are saved. I am praying for all who have quickly passed judgement and is truly being deceived by someone other than the person who gave their series that theme. May God be merciful.
The word says when we sow into the flesh we reap of the flesh…unfortunately so many people will purchase this because they are fans of whitney and not lovers of Christ. Its really not their fault, its the fault of leadership. The leaders job is to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ not Whitney, she has no gospel, she did not come here by immaculate conception. She did not live a life free from sin, she did not die and rise who now sits on the right hand of the throne of our Father so when did gospel become carnal? wake up saints its intercession time like never before and judgement first begins in the household of faith. We can truly see this judgement because the true intent of the heart is being exposed. Help us Holy Spirit not to compromise the gospel of Christ for the fame of this world.
They are really trying so hard to put her into Heaven. I saw them doing this at the funeral. It’s so sad she left us, but no matter how hard people try to put someone in Heaven, if God doesn’t put her there, she won’t be there. I feel so sorry for those music and entertainment people, having all the money in the world, and still looking for happiness and something to drown their pain.
Well, I hope they and her fans (really all of us) got a wake up call because it shows us that any of us could leave here at any time. And if we don’t have Christ in our lives we will all burn in Hell.

I’m not sure about the ‘title’ but maybe that was part of the problem, it was Whitney’s gospel and not the Lord’s???? I heard that she kept telling people, “she was a child of God”, and sang the song, “Jesus loves me”, but then I say how can we believe that if we end up dead from drugs, alcohol, etc.?? Either we’ll believe that His Word is true, or the lies that forever surround us, rather than going to Him for the real Help that we ALL Need.
I’ve come to realize that NO one can save us from ‘ourselves’ but the Lord, and the fact that she was drinking and taking stuff that I’m quite sure even she had to realize could kill her, is baffling to me when Jesus says for us to “cast all of our cares on Him, because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7, Psalm 55:22). All I keep thinking is, “maybe she wasn’t strong enough to do that, or the alcohol and drugs dulled her senses”, but whatever it was I hope and pray that she “got it right with the Lord before she breathed her last (and that Bobbi Christina will not go down the same path). God help them ALL.
Yes this is crazy that someone would use this women’s death to cash in on the Gospel with, but it’s not her fault that they are doing this. This woman was judged by Christ ONCE she passed away from this world, so she could not give the okay for this. It is sad when anyone dies and leaves their child behind. Whitney was not perfect and neither are any of us commenting on this post. Jabs should be taken at the people putting on this mess and not Whitney! I’m not worshipping Whitney by no means, but in her defense she never made a statement about being the answer for salvation, and that song: The greatest love of all was sung by George Benson first in the late seventies, so that’s not her original material either, however she did make it popular. The ones of you making your hurtful comments about this deceased woman should be praying for her family instead…

There is a part in that song where she says, “Learning to love yourself, it is the greatest love of all.” The bible says that if a man would lay down his life is the greatest love of all.

Capitalizing off Houston’s death by being sorry that she didn’t have a chance to ‘come back to the Lord’ before she died, and hoping and praying that she did??? I also wonder what would have happened had Whitney used her voice for the Lord All the Way like He wanted her too, but it’s too late for that now. “Let people rest in peace”, well can you, me, or anyone say “for certain” that she is doing just that?? I’ve learned NOT to use these words if I can’t say for certain that the person is doing just that, and I pray she is. “Tricks and gimmicks”, probably because that’s what some Christians think that’s all the world will respond to, rather than telling it like it is via the Bible. And yes, I (and quite a few others) ARE praying for her daughter, mom, and the rest of their family and friends too.

Good points Kathy this is so common how often do we see the devil seduce good singers away from the Church and promises them fame, riches and glory? Have any of you that are commenting ever been to this church? I say that because I was. Every word that was preached came from Scripture! A title of a sermon series is just that a title! Its the word that is important. Whitney Houston was not spoken of in a manner that was disrespectful at all. As a matter of fact, lives were changed and souls were given to CHRIST! While we are here debating a title of a sermon series, how many are out there in the trenches fighting for souls? That should be our focus DISCIPLES!

The issue is the method being used to draw people. Paul said in the Bible that he did not come to people with eloquent words or clever speech but he relied on the power of God to draw people. Jesus said that when He is lifted up all men will be drawn unto him and in the purest sense that was Him being lifted up on the cross but on today’s time you could say that when Jesus is exalted and the focus of what you do and why you do it that is when people will ve drawn. It should not be the gospel according to Whitney but rather Christ. If the power of the Holy Ghost does not draw these people then the Holy Ghost WILL NOT sustain them.

I pray that the pastor will receive in humility the correction he needs and not reject it due to pride. I pray for repentance and a turning away from the carnal work of the flesh and idolatry that these messages will produce. I pray for a reconnection with God the Father beginning from the head of the congregation that will impact every member and cause them to return to their first love which is Jesus Christ. I pray then as a result that their ministry will reflect the True Gospel which was Given by God which is in Jesus Christ and in Him and in Him alone. Amen.

I was watching an interview with Roberta Flack yesterday on some celebrity news show and she was talking bout how sweet Whitney was and how much she loved her and just basically reminiscing and giving her roses and talking bout when Cissy Houston was singing backup and stuff but this is where the interview took a wrong turn. Instead of her just ending it with thank you for having me she went off into promoting her album. I was tripping on how she used that opportunity as a catalyst for her own self gain. Some people may disagree with me but it didn’t sit right in my spirit. That’s like me going to a funeral and passing out flyers to everyone after they have viewed the body. Where is the respect? But back to this flyer, im emailing these nuts today about this mess.
The same way Jakes keeps saying, I didn’t get a chance to know her until we were on the set of Sparkle. Each time I saw him reflecting on his relationship with her he made that slight plug mentioning Sparkle. He could just say until he had a chance to work with her.

I can see where both Rose and Kilo are coming from. When you are led by the Spirit, it means God is speaking. There is no preparation when God is speaking through you.

This is horrible. I watched that old interview of her by Diane Sawyer and Ms. Houston was so conflicted. That much was obvious and sad, too. She knew in her heart, but was trying to justify her actions with the name of Jesus. The Holy Spirit had probably been pulling at her to return to Him, but she just wouldn’t listen. What a sad thing for folks calling themselves Christians would promote this sort of thing.
I pray for the true children of God to have discernment, wisdom, and true spiritual understanding of what is going on here. In Jesus’ wonderful, awesome, and holy name.
Maybe Im slow, what is he trying to do?
